Swimmingpool House

2009
Atacama Desert, Chile
Built-on Area 350 mt2
Proposal

The inspiration for this ambitious project was found in the desert of Atacama. Following the water line in movement, that organic gesture is sought in the geometry of the houses. Its texture is projected in the footprints of the saltpans, with the result that here we have a house that is lived in from and for desert landscapes.
The Atacama Desert in Chile is constantly faced with a climatic duality: during the day an intense dry heat reigns, whilst at night the temperature drops dramatically. Putting this condition to good use in the area and with its three swimming pools, two lines of action are drawn: inhabiting the roof and giving the water in the pools a climatic use.
